The Wiesbaden Warrior rifle team is celebrating one of its most successful seasons, with both varsity and junior varsity squads setting multiple school records and inspiring honor throughout the school.

The Wiesbaden varsity marksmanship team recently demonstrated its skill at the DoDEA Europe West Conference matches, securing victories in three out of five events. Varsity team captain and battalion commander, Cadet Lt. Col. Cydnee Lassiter, delivered a strong performance, finishing just one point shy of earning the title of best marksman in Europe.

The team continued its impressive season at the European Three-Position Air Rifle (3PAR) Championship in Vilseck, Germany, competing on an all-digital target system. Wiesbaden placed second with a school-record score of 2,280 in the DoDEA Final, just 11 points behind conference rival Kaiserslautern High School and edging out Stuttgart High School by two points.

The Warriors also competed in the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) JROTC Postal Match, achieving record results. Team 1 scored 1,135 points—the highest in the 2nd Brigade—while Team 2 earned 1,116 points to place fourth in the brigade. Both teams qualified for the CMP JROTC Championships, marking the first time Wiesbaden will send two teams to the national competition, held in mid-February at Camp Perry, Ohio.

Reflecting on her experience, Lassiter said leading the varsity team has been a rewarding challenge. "Being a captain for the last two years of the WHS Varsity Marksmanship Team has been a colorful experience," Lassiter said. "While the sport is individual, at the end of the day, we work together as a team to motivate and help each other improve our scores. Seeing the team grow over the past few years has been amazing, and I think it will become a pattern into the future, only bringing more victories and more opportunities. I am excited to see us succeed and surpass our previous season scores."

The team's success has fueled excitement leading into the final and national championships.

"Our team has a lot of talent and honor —it really makes us stand out," said Cadet Adrian Pack. "Our recent victories sparked a lot of determination, and I hope that this translates to success at finals."

As the Warriors prepare for their biggest challenge yet, they remain focused on building upon their historic season and making their mark at the national level.
