Mr. John Zesiger

Biography

John Zesiger is delighted to serve the Wiesbaden High School Community as Assistant Principal. Prior to joining Warrior Country, Mr. Zesiger served as a Professional Development Specialist with the DoDEA Americas Center for Instructional Leadership (CIL). In this role, he collaborated with the DoDEA Americas CIL team to support DoDEA district and school leaders with systemic leadership development, professional learning for DoDEA priorities, learning networks, and innovative best practices.

Raised in a family of educators, “John” became “Mr. Zesiger” when he started his teaching career as a middle school social studies teacher in Baltimore, Maryland. He continued to serve the same district for 12 years in multiple teaching and leadership roles at the secondary level before transitioning to district leadership.

Prior to joining the DoDEA Americas CIL, Mr. Zesiger served as the District Coordinator for Secondary School Transformation & Turnaround with Baltimore City Public Schools. In this role he managed a team that provided direct support to school principals with strengthening the instructional coaching, professional development, academic interventions, and leadership teams within their schools. Previous district administration roles included District Coordinator for Student Support Teams and 504 Teams as well as a Student Support Liaison for 12 secondary schools.

Mr. Zesiger earned his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and German Studies from The College of Wooster, and has acquired a Master of Arts in Teaching from The Johns Hopkins University and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Towson University.

Mr. Zesiger has enjoyed an array of experiences in school improvement, district improvement, student, support, and school leadership at the school, district, and regional levels. He is excited to continue his commitment to the Wiesbaden High School community and serve in a school-based leadership role that blends his professional passions for supporting students and coaching educators to improve teaching and learning.

When not at school or cheering on our WHS Warriors from the bleachers, Mr. Zesiger enjoys exploring the hiking paths along the Rhine, playing soccer or baseball with his sons, creating delicious dishes in the kitchen with his wife, and this year, he is always looking forward to traveling during snowboard season.
